crofthoose cushions

I developed my crofthoose shaped cushions in 2012 and they are the main thing that I sell, inspired by traditional crofthouses seen all over Shetland. I knit the cushions on a Silver Reed knitting machine and then sew and stuff the cushions myself. The cushions are all stuffed with Shetland Wool cushion stuffing which I get from Jamieson & Smith where I work full time. The cushions are £40  each, I post them 1st class signed for.

As I work full time each cushion is made to order, which means you have more control over colours and motifs used. I am open to anything! if you are interested please send me an email at: For some colour ideas have a look at this album on my facebook page

Im currently taking a break from crofthoose commissions, thanks for the continued support! xx

  1. Hello , Ella! We are writing from Boston, MA USA – we would love to order one of your cushions – how can we go about doing this?

  8. Hi Ella,

I am headed to Shetland later this year and while I understand you are not taking on any commissions I was wondering if any of the local stores carried these beautiful cushions.

  9. Just finishing the crofthoose hat, my very first fair isle project! Will be there in June and am hoping to get one of your cushions and some yarn to work on the mitts to match the hat. Are you still planning on putting some at the textile museum? Rhonda
